Acne can be very embarrassing for young and old alike. It is a common skin disease that affects most people in their teens, but can affect people of any age group. Acne is caused from imbalances and impurities within the body. This occurs with the over activity of the sebaceous glands, which produce oil and when the skin pores gets clogged with this oil it leads to bacterial infections. Acne is commonly seen on the face, but occurs on shoulders, chest, neck, upper arms, back, legs, and scalp as well.
Sunscreen is important for everyone, but especially for people with acne, since most blemish-blasting ingredients increase the skin's sensitivity to sunlight. Many people see sunburn as a quick fix for acne, since sunburn causes the face to peel and the burned skin takes zits off with it. Don't buy into this myth. The sun might temporarily dry out zits, but they will come back and they may eventually be joined by wrinkles, age spots, or even cancer.
The most important thing you must do is start treatment early before it becomes too widespread. Teenagers who have older siblings that suffer from or have suffered from acne must take action the instant they see acne on themselves because if the older sibling has had a bad case of it chances are the younger sibling will too. The first place many people turn is the over the counter solutions such as Clearasil or Stridex... but these often do not work as they primarily remove bacteria on the face and there are many other products that can do that.
